I am not sure if knife throwing is an art, a sport or just a form of entertainment. What I am sure of is that it is a skill that requires a lot of practice. There is a need for accuracy in the placement of the body and the throwing motion. The throw should be done with enough force. Why, there are even throwers who make complicated throwing techniques such as allowing the knife to spin.

Throwing knives are specially designed and weighted. Unlike other knives they are without handles. What looks like a handle is actually a grip that allows the knife to be handled safely. Maxam makes different designs of throwing knives. One particular design of Maxam throwing knives is a 6-1/2 inch throwing knife in nylon sheath. It features double edge blades and nylon cord wrapped handles.
